LOIS MARIE HARROD

SOMEONE DROPS THE HAT

Imagine a store of vintage hats
hundreds floating on their perches,

velvet skippers, swallowtails,
each a disappearing breed

monarchs, fritillaries, metalmarks
coppers, blues and browns

and someone drops one.
Someone is always dropping the hat.
